Welcome to Emotionly: Emotion Tracker. Your privacy and trust are extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App") on iOS and Android.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

The App is a reflective tool to help you explore the connection between your body and your emotions. It is not a medical service. Insights are for personal reflection only and do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have health concerns, consult a qualified healthcare professional. The App is not a crisis line — seek immediate professional or emergency care if you are in danger.

  • Body-map markers, chat messages, and optional images power reflection and AI-guided conversation.
  • Data stays on your device by default; cloud backup only if you sign in and enable Cloud Sync in Settings.
  • AI chat always uses the network — messages are processed on our servers and by OpenAI even when cloud sync is off. Cloud sync controls backup, not whether AI runs.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide to Us

  • Account Information: When you create an account via Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we may collect your email address, name, and basic profile information.
  • Chat and Wellbeing Data: Text of your chat messages, emotional contexts, and any images you choose to upload within the chat for reflection context.
  • Body Map Data: Markers and body areas you select to track sensations.

B. Automatically Collected Information

  • Device Identifiers: An anonymous Device Installation ID to enforce fair AI usage limits (rate limiting), especially for guest users.
  • Usage Data: Basic diagnostic and interaction data, including AI token/quota usage, to improve performance and enforce limits.

C. Purchase Information

  • Premium subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed via RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your credit card information.

D. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA, use data for third-party advertising, sell personal data, or offer social feeds or public profiles.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Providing the Service: Process chat messages and generate AI reflections.
  • Cloud Sync: Synchronize chat history and markers across devices when you are signed in and have enabled cloud sync.
  • Service Security and Fairness: Monitor quota usage and prevent abuse via device IDs and accounts.
  • Transactions: Process subscriptions and unlock Emotionly Plus features.

3. Third-Party Services

We share data only with service providers who help us operate the App:

  • Supabase — backend, database, authentication (auth IDs, chats/markers when cloud sync is on, images, quota records)
  • OpenAI — generative AI responses (chat messages, optional images, conversation context). OpenAI does not use API-submitted data to train foundational models.
  • RevenueCat — subscription management (app user ID, purchase/subscription state)
  • Apple / Google — sign-in and app store payments (authentication tokens, transaction records)

We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: Data is stored on your device for fast offline access by default.
  • Cloud Storage: When signed in with cloud sync enabled, data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Supabase for cross-device access.
  • We use industry-standard security measures against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data.

In the App:

  • Clear All Local Data — deletes all markers and conversations from the device
  • Delete Cloud Data — removes server-stored data (local data unaffected)
  • Delete Account — deletes your account and associated data
  • Delete Conversation — removes a single chat
  • Cloud sync off — keeps backup disabled (AI processing still required for chat)

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us to request deletion if you believe a child has provided data.

7. Medical Disclaimer

The App is a holistic reflection tool and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It should not be used for medical emergencies.
